I was at the beach a few weeks ago and as if it was necessary, my middle one got lost ON THE VERY FIRST DAY!!
Ok... I guess that happens! After we found him, there was some debate on why it happened, and the conclusion was that he lost REFERENCE from where we were sitting because the close by restaurant had their unbrellas (his refeRence) closed while he was swimming.
So, grandma asks him what happened and he says:-
_ I lost preference of where you all were sitting!!!
Basic notions of how a mother o 3, a wife, an entrepreneur, a friend, daughter, a sister and most important of all A WOMAN gets by.

Questioned questions...
My little one was very distracted playing with his cars and out of the blue he asked me:
_Mommy, what is time?

Being a mom, a BEING who is a mom…
Being a mom is not simple. It is like spending a life time filling up empty pages of a book. Years later, this book can turn out to be a NYTimes Bestseller or it could be unpublishable. The truth is that it is quite a load of responsibility which we, most of the time, don´t consider the consequences. I am going through a lost phase. I will be honest, I don´t hold mega-aspirations regarding my children´s future! I will be happy if the turn out to be one of those books that have a constant representation, in other words, that they turn out to be reasonable adults who take responsibility for their actions. Rumor has it that we raise children for the world; I would like to think that we raise future adults and the rest is mere consequence.

A young apprentice...
Some time ago, my oldest son woke up at 4am crying, so, as always I jumped out of bed to see what was going on and comfort him. While still sleeping, he cried:
- SCARED... scared... I am scared, very scared!
- What are you scared of, sweetie?
- Scared mommy very scared!
- What´s scaring you? Talk to mommy! – So he pointed at my direction – Are you scared of mommy? – I asked.
He put his little hands on both sides of my face and kissed my forehead.
- Scared mommy, scared...
- Sweetheart, talk to me, maybe I can help you! Tell me what is scarring you.
- The Force mom!
- The force???
- Yes!! I don´t know how to use it yet...
Almost bursting in laughter, I got a hold of myself:
- Oh, don´t worry sweetheart! You are a very powerful Jedi!
- But Mom, I´m still little!
- Yes you are, but Jedi´s are born knowing they have the force within them, when you need it you will know what to do.
The little one smiled and seemed calmer. He laid down and fell back asleep!

Puerile Uprising...
My kids go to music class since they were 9 months old, and just like any child, the go through phases. Sometimes they absolutely love it, talk about it all week and can´t wait to get to class. Some other times, well... not so much. This happened in one of these weeks when they panic, throw tantrums and beg not to go. I am always pretty firm and make them go anyway, leaving not much room for discussion.
So they pouted and when on to class. On their way out, the teacher of my oldest came to talk to me. She said that he didn´t participate in class and that he was actually disturbing it a lot. So, on an attempt to make him quiet down a little, she gave him pencils and paper and asked him to make a drawing. She hesitated a little before showing me his artwork, a white sheet of paper all scribbled in black saying: FOR FREEDOM!
He was only six!

Go figure...
On one of those days that you decide to take it slow and just browse through the drugstore while getting rid of a diaper abstinence issue, I was proudly pushing my little one (he was still a baby, about 3mo old) in his stroller and he was smiling and giggling. BEAUTIFUL! I noticed a Young lady following us around and really starring. I was frightened, I hate people getting out of their way to notice me, but I carried on as if nothing was happening and went to the cashier line. She followed me and said:
- What a beautiful baby and so smiley! I am dying to get one too, but one like yours!
I smiled politely and said:
_ All ready? It is a lot of working having one! – Really the whole pregnancy/birth/newborn package is a little heavy! And to my awe she bursts:
_What did you do to have him?
WHAT DID I DO TO HAVE HIM??? What kind of question is that? I was confused, but tried not to be unpleasant:
_ What did I do to have him? Urrrrr... Doing it!
_But how? Was it hard?
I just could not believe my ears, this woman looked about 30-something and she did not know about the birds and the bees?
_ Well – I said – If you don´t know how a baby is made, I am NOT going to be the one to tell you. – So she persisted:
_ Did it take long?
NO COMMENTS! Can you imagine my face in a moment like this?
To my relief, she was inquiring about adoption, my son didn´t look much like my when he was born, so she just assumed he was adopted… go figure!

Stuff my kids say/do...
So I was in the car with my kids and I turned back and saw my oldest son with both fingers up his nose. He is going through that gross boys phase so I have been watching him closely. So I gave him the look. He looked at me frightened and said:
- `C´mon mom, I am NOT picking my nose, I am trying to see with my fingers would meet!
